Fishing Montana

Montana's majestic landscape is home to countless outdoor activities.  Although warm hospitality, world class skiing, hiking, camping, and climbing are all part of the Montanan experience, adventure seekers are lured from all over the world every year to the spectacular fishing that waits in store. In addition to innumerable small streams, Montana is home to the Missouri Headwaters, where the Gallatin, Jefferson, Madison rivers part ways. The Yellowstone River also flows through the state’s many miles of breathtaking scenery.

The fishing here is good; in fact, it's better than good. There are big, healthy rainbow trout, browns, cutthroats, and more waiting in the deep holes and eddies of rivers all across the state, but these magnificent fish are only part of the allure. The surrounding landscape plays an equal role in making the experience truly magical.

It’s easy to have an unforgettable experience fishing in Montana, even if you don’t catch a single thing. While wading or drifting through the many miles of crystal water, it is common to see stunning sunrises and all kinds of wildlife passing by. Cranes, geese, moose, deer, and elk are a common sight when fishing in Montana.  In fact, for a number of people, it isn't even about catching fish.

Fishing in Montana is so captivating it inspired poems, books, and even a major motion picture.  It inspires entire families to take up their roots and plant them in Montanan soil, and reminds us daily how lucky we are to live and work with some of Earth’s most beautiful gifts right in our backyard.  We do our best to make sure we get out and enjoy Montana as often as possible, and show our friends the magic of Big Sky Country in the Treasure State.
